The Infamous 'Hallway Guy'

Lee Mujin made his face known as the hallway guy at the Seoul Institute of the Arts through a video clip that made headlines on YouTube and Facebook. The video clip features Mujin and his close classmate, Ahn Jae-pil while singing casually in the hallway of their school. The hallway video has now more than 11 million views on YouTube.

Mujin (vocal/guitar/yellow light), and Jaepil (vocal/red light) are in an unofficial three-man group named Traffic Light 🚦, alongside their other classmate Kim Dedong (bass/green light).

As a singer, Mujin hopes that his songs will not just be added to someone’s playlist for a fleeting moment and then be forgotten.

Sing Again Journey
(From Unknown Singer to Famous SInger)

Lee Mujin participated in JTBC's Audition Program named Sing Again: Battle of the Unknown, which aired on 16 November 2020. This is the official first audition program he had participated in ever since his debut in 2018. He joined under the category of <Real Unknown> singer.

He was dubbed as the No. 63 singer for the show's concept which is to give a stage for singers who never got to see the light of stardom during their times, or stars who were once big names but are now forgotten by the public to sing in front of the panel of judges while being nameless until they reached the Top 10 spot. Mujin was the second youngest contestant to make it to the finals, aged 19 at the time of its premiere.

Before the stage, Mujin introduced himself as a singer that is like a yellow traffic light. He said that the yellow light resembles himㅡ “in between the red and green light, despite not having its own place, the yellow light would always light up for three seconds. Even though it doesn't have its own place, seeing it always trying its best to light up whenever there was a chance was really touching,” he said.

After his Is There Anybody performance, Mujin received an All-Again vote from all the judges and advances to the next round of the show. As of today, his pre-performance clip has garnered a total of 30 million views on Youtube, making it the most-viewed performance among all the Sing Again Season 1 participants.

Moving to the Final Round of the show, Mujin secured the third place during the Final Ranking, following Jung Hong Il (2nd place), and Lee Seung Yoon (winner).

On 2 April 2021, the Top 3 (alongside with Sing Again judge, Kyuhyun, and Lee Sugeun) then starred in Sing Again's Spin-off show entitled 'Famous Singers' wherein they meet some legendary Korean singers, chat with them about the behind-the-scenes of their music, and cover their songs. Their first famous singer guest was IU, followed by veteran singer Yang Hee Eun, and many more.

After the success of his Sing Again and Famous Singers journey, Mujin furthermore shines as his first single <Traffic Light> made its way topping music charts three months after its official promotion date. He brought home his first-ever music show win on August 8th, 2021, following a triple crown from SBS Inkigayo.

Aside from music show wins and weeks-long first place in music charts, he also received various awards from well-known Year-End Korean Music Award bodies such as Melon Music Awards (MMA), Golden Disc Awards (GDA), etc.

From being an unknown singer, Lee Mujin proves himself to be this generation's first-class soloist who sings, writes, and tells his stories while playing the guitar and no one can argue otherwise.
